Brown Bag Bioinformatics

The Institute of Bioinformatics and the Quantitative Biology Consulting Group are pleased to announce dates for the Brown Bag Bioinformatics series.

These lunch meetings are informal gatherings that bring people together to learn, share, and discuss bioinformatics.  People with all levels of skill and knowledge are welcome.

No registration is required, please bring your lunch and join us!

Institute to host Galaxy Software workshop

The Institute of Bioinformatics will be hosting a workshop on Galaxy, an open, web-based platform for data intensive bioinformatics.

The event will be held on March 7, 2014 in the Paul D. Coverdell Center.

Workshop participants will learn how to use Galaxy from the team that created it.

The Galaxy Team:

IOB Student Chosen for Google Summer Program

IOB first-year Ph.D. student Zheng Ruan was accepted for the Google Summer of Code 2013 program to work with the National Evolutionary Synthesis Center (NESCent). His project is titled “Codon Alignment and Analysis in Biopython” and he will be mentored by current Biopython developers Eric Talevich and Peter Cock. Congratulations Zheng!
