Postdoc Research Position in Proteomics and Bioinformatics

Post-doctoral research position
MS-based proteomics and bioinformatics
University of Minnesota

Position Description: A post-doctoral position is available focusing on development and application of advanced MS-based proteomics bioinformatics methods to biological problems. The post-doctoral researcher will work with informatics and software developers to refine, optimize and apply state-of-the-art computational tools for advanced applications, such as proteogenomics and metaproteomics analysis. It is anticipated that this position will entail some wet-bench experimentation in bioinformatics work. The researcher will also work with collaborating laboratories seeking to use these advanced computational tools in their research projects. This position will be funded primarily through an NSF-funded grant for development of advanced MS-based proteomics informatics tools (for more information see:http://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=1147079&HistoricalAwards=false)
Desired Background:  A Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry or closely related field is required. The successful candidate will have knowledge and hands-on experience in MS-based proteomics, both wet-bench experimental techniques as well as current methods in data analysis and informatics. A proven track record of scientific publication and ability to work within a collaborative team is essential. Although not required, demonstrated experience with computer programming is a plus.
