IOB Adjunct Faculty Member Edits Plant DNA

Dr. CJ Tsai, adjunct faculty member in the Institute of Bioinformatics, has made modifications to the genome of a tree species for the first time. Dr. Tsai is working with a gene editing tool called CRISPR/Cas to make genomic changes to specific genes in the genus Populus — a group of deciduous trees.
