Student Xi Gu Selected

Graduate Student Xi Gu has been selected to participate in this year’s Graduate School Emerging Leaders Program.

As stated on the Graduate School website:

The Emerging Leaders Program is an invited leadership workshop sponsored by the Graduate School.  This two and a half-day program, which is held off campus, helps you learn from experts and fellow graduate students what it means to challenge yourself to be the best leader you can be.  You’ll attend sessions about professional development and leadership skills necessary for entering a workplace characterized by a diversity of people, career opportunities, and ever increasing responsibilities.

Congratulations to Xi on her selection into this program.

Institute of Bioinformatics Alumni Recruited Far and Wide

Multiple alumni of the Bioinformatics Program at the University of Georgia have gone off to be recruited by multiple, well-known companies and organizations nationwide. Such companies include the Center for Disease Control, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the National Institutes of Health and multiple research positions at esteemed universities.

Brown Bag Bioinformatics

The Institute of Bioinformatics and the Quantitative Biology Consulting Group are pleased to announce dates for the Brown Bag Bioinformatics series.

These lunch meetings are informal gatherings that bring people together to learn, share, and discuss bioinformatics.  People with all levels of skill and knowledge are welcome.

No registration is required, please bring your lunch and join us!

Institute to host Galaxy Software workshop

The Institute of Bioinformatics will be hosting a workshop on Galaxy, an open, web-based platform for data intensive bioinformatics.

The event will be held on March 7, 2014 in the Paul D. Coverdell Center.

Workshop participants will learn how to use Galaxy from the team that created it.
