Postdoctoral Position at Ghent University
The Comparative & Integrative Genomics group is currently looking for a
PhD student or Postdoc in Bioinformatics
to work for 3-4 years on sugarcane transcriptomics and next-generation sequencing data analysis.
Job description
- perform scientific research in an industrial collaborative project between VIB and Petrobras (Brazil)
- apply computational approaches to analyze RNA-Seq expression data
- apply comparative genomics methods developed in our research group to
transfer biological knowledge from model species to crops
- collaborate with biologists to characterize and study lignin genes in
sugarcane
- support bioinformatics training initiatives in Brazil
Your profile
- or you have a Master in Biotechnology, a Master in Plant biology, a Master in Computer Science, a degree of Bioscience Engineering, or equivalent
- or you have a PhD in plant biotechnology or bioinformatics with a good publication record
- you have a strong interest in genomics and plant biology
- you have a good understanding of basic computational sequence analysis
tools
- expertise with Linux, Perl/Python and/or Java/C++
- you have good communication skills (proficient in English), writing skills and
are a team player
