The Institute of Bioinformatics hosted a symposium, Big Data Challenges in Life Sciences, at the Georgia Center on Oct. 12, 2015. Big Data experts from across the country presented during the day-long event, which was attended by 140 registrants from UGA and neighboring areas.
IOB would like to thank the sponsors of the event for helping to make it a successful and informative meeting.
Sponsors include:
UGA Provost, The Center for Molecular Medicine at UGA, the Department of Statistics, the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the Department of Computer Science, the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center, Georgia Advanced Computing Resource Center at UGA, and Waters, Inc.
Dr. Lawrence Shimkits and his lab have published research in Genes and Development. The soil bacterium research has identified a potential mechanism for neurodegenerative diseases.
